Grapefruit Diet
Back in the early 1930s, people tried the Grapefruit Diet in order to fight overweight. Many experts disagreed with the claim that this diet is effective and even said that it can be bad for the health. In 2004, over 70 years after the Grapefruit Diet was invented, a study has checked it and it was proved that it is effective.
What is this diet all about?
The idea behind the Grapefruit Diet (AKA Hollywood Diet) is very simple:
1) Eat grapefruits in your meals throughout the day. Add them to your favorite food, put them in your salad or anything else that comes up in your mind.
2) Drink grapefruits juice. It's better to drink it without adding sugar but if it's too bitter for you then you can add a little bit of sugar. If just grapefruits are too boring for you, make a nice shake or mix them with other fruits or vegetables.
Since 1 medium grapefruit has about 80 calories. You can eat grapefruits as much as you can and still the amount of calories will not be that big. After all, how many grapefruits can you eat a day? If you eat 2-3 grapefruits that's about 200 calories. You can add a variety of food types (other than grapefruits) to your daily menu and still lose weight. Just make sure you don't get crazy with what you add to the grapefruits, make your diet as healthy as possible. Taking clinically proven slimming pills can help you lose even more weight while you can still eat your favorite foods.
A Grapefruit Diet Study
The Grapefruit Diet that was created in the early 20th century, regained popularity in the mid 1970s. The most common idea of experts about this diet throughout time was that it wasn't effective for weight loss. But a study from the 21st century has proven differently.
In 2004, a group of scientists led by Dr. Ken Fujioka have researched the subject. During the 12 week study, some participants ate half a grapefruit before each meal and some drank a portion of grapefruit juice 3 times a day. The group that ate half a grapefruit before each meal lost an average of 3.6 lbs (about 1.6 k"g) per person. The other group had a slightly lower average of 3.3 lbs.
A little over 1 pound a month may not be enough. But if you change your diet a little bit more than just adding grapefruits to it you can lose some more weight. Also keep in mind that although your diet is very important, it is not your only step towards a healthier lifstyle. If you add what you lose from an effective exercising plan and from a top fat loss supplement you can get to pretty nice results.
